Ever been interested in learning how to Swing Dance? Come and join our group! No partner or experience necessary! Everyone is welcome, including undergraduate and graduate students, staff and faculty, and community members.
Our beginner lessons are always meant for actual beginners – if you’ve never danced before in your life, we’ll teach you the basics to be able to dance socially with others in the group! Our beginner lessons are also great ways to refresh your skills, learn new moves, and warm up for social dancing. These lessons are drop-in and don’t require a long-term commitment.
Our intermediate lessons are designed to be taken as a progressive 6+ week series starting at the beginning of the semester. This semester, we’re teaching progressive Balboa. By practicing these moves at our social dances, you should be able to dance with anyone anywhere in the world – not to mention locals in and around Philadelphia & New York! Because these lessons are designed to be sequential, you should try to attend as consistently as possible; however, our teachers are happy to help you catch up if you have to skip a week.
We also often have workshops that focus on building a particular skill. These are drop-in, non-consecutive lessons that often have a narrower focus than a regular lesson. Different workshops are suitable for different skill levels; if you’re unsure whether you’re of a suitable skill level to participate in a given workshop, please feel free to reach out and ask!
Please note: Our club requires requires masks to be worn for the duration of the meeting. This is to protect members of our dance community from severe or long-term illness. We thank you for helping us keep our dances safe!
